Some of the faces from our shop! Natalie – Partner / Manager / PADI & SSI Instructor Natalie arrived on Koh Tao in 2004, she was meant to be staying for a week! that was 9 years ago... She has 12 years diving experience and has a passion for diving but even more so for sharing that passion internally and externally with staff and customers alike. A total fitness freak, if she isn't at yoga, or running, or flying trapezing then you will find her training hard at the Muay Thai Boxing Stadium! Her love for diving is never ending and that is made very clear when you meet her. Her enthusiasm, patience and bubbly personality together with 6 years teaching experience makes her student’s training easy. She believe's that running a dive shop is all about the crew, our crew are truly amazing, they all care and want you to enjoy and learn about everything... Natalie is dual rated with PADI & SSI and can teach a wide selection of specialties. She really enjoys teaching the Dive Master trainees / Dive Con trainees, and supervising their progress. David - Assistant Manager / Instructor David has a great deal of knowledge from diving all over South East Asia and has been with Scuba J. since 2003, he is a PADI and SSI Master Instructor and has been introducing people to 'his' world for over 10 years. If you look up Yorkshire man in the dictionary you'll find David's picture. Like all true Yorkshire folk he was raised by feral cats in the Lake District. At 16 he moved to civilisation. Did I say civilisation? I meant Leeds. There he fell in with an ancient cult know as the Mods. Maybe it was the Jamaican ska music or the Mods' passion for scooters that inspired David to move to the tropical island of Koh Tao? If he's not teaching or helping Natalie to organise us all, he's found in the equipment room fixing all our equipment as he is qualified to do this, on hand – handy man and singing along to Queen. Bring him some Lancashire crumbly cheese or a tin of Heinz baked beans and you'll have a friend for life. Bring him a couple of crunchie bars and a packet of mini eggs? You'll be family! Salva - SSI & PADI Head Instructor They call him Donkey, but he dives with a monkey wrapped around his first stage...yeah, that's right. A monkey. Musician, globetrotter, a past in the military, head instructor, Salva is a continuous surprise, and if you're looking for an anecdote he won't let you down. Meet him around the island playing with his bongos and soon you'll want to start dancing! Along with his dog Chico he brings the sangre caliente of the Spanish fiesta to a shop otherwise ruled by brits! He is organized and meticulous, but never denies his bearded smile to anyone....to such a degree that he's the official entertainer and choreographer on the diving boat. And believe us, a big man like him dancing around the deck is more or less the Koh Tao version of Baloo the Bear! If you think the surface intervals can get boring it's because.....well, you never spent an afternoon at Japanese Gardens with him fiddling with his iPod. The problem? If you don't use your best Spanish accent when you need something from him, he won't understand you at all! He is always up to something, whether organizing a dinner, planning a jam session or simply working on his private business, you wonder where does he find the energies for everything. His passion for scuba diving and his complete dedication to the students make him a much loved instructor among customers and an invaluable asset to the team at Scuba Junction. ¡adelante! G - SSI & PADI Head Instructor G who’s actual name Gwydion is that of a Welsh god, spent most of his early years enjoying the delights of cream tea, scones and clotted cream from the lovely southern realms of Devon. Until 5 years ago changing the chance of seeing a Devonshire Hog to a Whale shark. Never the less he is truly a dedicated member of the team, and just like his name sake passes on his great knowledge to others without thought. A very experienced instructor with a gentle, easy going nature, considered to be a true family man. The many that know G also admire his great but simple sense of humor that is hard to spot through his trained poker face, only his eyes giving away the giggles inside. G the wise but lovely, what a guy. Rachel, Head Instructor, SSI & PADI
What can I say, kind, caring, positive, happy, friendly, enthusiastic and always willing to help. A great listener and good with advice, Rachael "L" is one in a million, she is a great asset to the company and a pleasure to work with. A wonderful and supportive part of the team, her patients, sensitive side will instantly win you over, she’ll take extra care of you and will always go that extra mile to make sure you feel totally safe and secure throughout the course, with many laughs along the way, she’s Northern but don’t let that ever put you off….
Niki, SSI Instructor, German Once you meet Niki you instantly warm to her quirky ways, the queen of pulling the most random faces and in every sentence, she’ll pull one. Our very own German SSI instructor, Niki continues to win people over with her relaxed teaching styles. Niki loves her job and it shows in how she teaches, able to teach in English and German she will show you the ways of diving (with facial expressions) and get you through your courses with ease, grace and some giggles along the way, however, don’t be fooled too much by her girlish charms, that will all change when you hear her burps… A total addict of jelly sweets and cookies, on arrival to your class don’t bring this teacher an apple, she’ll definitely pull a face to that…….sweets all the way! Lee, SSI & PADI Instructor
Let us introduce you to Lee. Lee definitely has the most infectious sense of humor at Scuba Junction...hold on, that’s Salva. Lee is for sure the most dedicated, hard working instructor at Scuba Junction...huh, that’s G. Most organized...Nat. Most bubbly personality...Leanne. Most popular...Gemma. Umm...Lee... Well one thing is for certain, Lee looks fantastic in spandex. Whether Lee, an ex-Chippendale dancer, slips into that form fitting wetsuit for some deep exploration or his leggings for some high flying antics on the trapeze, Lee is bound to change your life! If you're lucky, you might even see the one arm push up!...hang on he is also Welsh….can’t help that!! Leanne, Head Dive Master She is extremely shy and quiet, boring and can't stand funny people. I am of course joking, you are guaranteed awesome of day of diving with her and you probably will book a few more. If you are looking to have the most exciting dive, Leanne is your Divemaster. Happy, bubbly, excitable and very passionate about her job and diving. You will end every dive with a smile on your face which is the all reason we go diving!!!! Charlie (DANGER), SSI & PADI Instructor He is an adrenaline junky. Recently moved to Koh Tao, he is a born and bred Californian however believes he is now at least a quarter Puerto Rican after dive instructing there for the last 3 yrs. A very experienced PADI and SSI instructor with over 3000 dives underwater; he is also a passionate sky diver. In between diving and free falling, you can find Charlie scaling the boulders scattered around Koh Tao. Due to recently falling in love he is focused on learning the German language as his next goal, I'm not sure however if the late night TV shows he has been watching is the best way for him to learn it. Always chatty and ready to tell a joke, he makes life at scuba j a pleasure.
Rachel M, SSI Dive Control Specialist Rachel has become the latest member of the amazing team at Scuba J. Yet another Yorkshire ex pat, we now have 3 in the shop. She is very bubbly even at 6:30 in the morning and so so talkative. She has discovered her new passion of leading fun divers and doing refreshers is hard work but loving every minute and enjoying meeting and greeting new people every day. She always has a story to tell, whether it be about diving or her past life as a true Yorkshire lass. Though if she ever goes to Penang, and flies back to Thailand, just remind her that the customs will confiscate the Heinz oxtail soup from her carryon luggage, as this is considered a deadly weapon on the plane. Ask her! and I am sure she will tell you the story. Davide, SSI Instructor

What’s the best thing about Davide is you’re guaranteed to have a good time. Watch out girls he has been known to turn lesbians straight or is it straight girls gay?!
